Being a self motivator with an aggressive personality, my first job out of high school was Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools for Merced County, Merced, CA. With typing skills of (100 words/minute) and stenography (150 words/minute) I moved on to my next position as the youngest Administrative Assistant for Gallo Wines, working under Bob Gallo, son of Julio Gallo. After 2 years, I moved to the state of Virginia and secured a Senior Administrative Position working for David Monnette of VH Monnette and Company, a Manufacturer’s Representative Firm selling products to the Armed Forces (first introduction to placing products into retail). In 1971 I moved back to my native California and, rather than look for a job, I founded and created The Secretarial and Answering Service business. I was 21 at the time. I built my business, one client at a time, personally asking my customers to trust me and my service. I worked every day to sustain every single client while always approaching new ones. After several years of building and maintaining a successful business with several employees, my main competitor made me an offer I couldn’t refuse so I sold my Secretarial and Answering Service. 

I started and built other businesses from the ground up and sold them when I felt the time was right (Deli’s, Shaved Ice, Chimney Sweep, Apiary, Recreational Vehicle Dealership, and others).

Being self-employed for many years, I decided to try working for someone else. I secured a sales position for a recreational vehicle dealer. Being the only “female” out of 16 sales people, and not even knowing what a “chassis” was, I was blessed with the ability to sell. I was sales person of the month 8 times my first 12 months in the RV industry. I progressed in the industry and became Finance and Sales Manager, Closer, Buyer, and General Manager of the dealership, with 60 million dollars in product.

During this time, I was asked by a friend to help for one season in the cheerleading uniform industry, Cheerleader Supply (their rep left at the beginning of the season with no one to replace her). Cheerleader was the largest cheerleading uniform company in the world servicing the needs of groups like local city Pop Warner organizations up to and including the NFL, NBA and more. After helping for 2 seasons, the President of the company, Mr. Randy Best, called me personally asking me be his Regional Manager. I was responsible for 14 western states with 25 sales people. 

Feeling very seasoned in the RV industry, my family decided to open our own RV dealership. We sold new and used RV’s, had a retail parts store and service bays for RV related customers for 10 years and responsible for many employees.

In June 2006, I opened another business, Design Accents, LLC. I dedicated my time to Design Accents placing other inventors and manufacturer’s products in major retail outlets. Being blessed again, my first product (home décor item) I took to my first retailer (Walgreens) was bought which resulted in Design Accents becoming a Walgreen Vendor.

I soon began helping others with product development...another aspect of marketing that has proven to be a good move. Produce Freshies (www.producefreshies.us), the packet that keeps your fruits, vegetables and fresh cut flowers fresher longer, was born! What a milestone!

In 2009, once again, another milestone...Design Accents became a QVC Vendor.

As years pass, Design Accents has become a vendor for other online retailers and has had success with placing products on major television shows as well. We continue to venture out and grow!
